FAITH IN THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD, ASSURES A VICTORIOUS LIFE!
Separated for Glory! by Elder Wm. N. Brooks

Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”. (John 17:17)
Born-again believer, do you understand the difference between the liberating power of Truth and the captivating damnation of lies? Did you know that because of our lustful sinful nature It is possible to deceptively put our faith in a lie, than in the Truth? The Word of God declares Jesus to be the way, the Truth, and the life…. (John 14:6). This means, if we knowingly or unknowingly believe lies, then we will inevitably stray from the eternal way of Christ. Our unseen enemy has successfully used this tactic since mankind. (Gen. 3) However, as born-again believers, through the goodness of God, have been given the Spirit of Truth. Not only to guide us unto all truth, (John 16:13) but to keep us in Christ, by separating us for God’s glory through the revealed Truth of His Word. In the 17th Chapter (verses 1-26) of John we can gain explicit and important insight of this from Jesus’ intimate communication with God, His Father concerning the sanctifying power of God’s Truth-His Word.
In this Chapter Jesus prays to God and intercedes for His disciples and those who would believe on Him through them. His payer reveals His desire for them to have the same victorious joy He has, from the glory of the oneness that He and God, His Father and ours share. This prophetic prayer can be manifested in anyone’s life by having faith in Christ death, resurrection, ascension, and the giving of the Holy Ghost. For God sent Him into the world not to condemn, but to save people for their sins and to give eternal life. (John 3:16-17)
The central theme of Christ prayer in the 17th Chapter of John is Truth and God’s Word! Jesus declares that Truth/Jesus/Word sanctifies or distinctly sets the Spiritually born-again apart from those who are of the world. This Implies that reception of the Truth in Christ or God’s Word activates the operation of faith. Which is an inward Spiritual resurrection and a heavenly translation that brings a oneness with the Godhead. (Col. 1:13). Giving one a new nature, while still being physically in it. It is vitally important for the believer and act on this truth by living in the newness of life, and to wisely not be entangled (entwined) with the affairs of this life. (Rom. 6:4, 2Tim. 2:4) Col. 2:12 states, “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him (Christ) from the dead.” This does not exclude anyone from their civil duties, but warns us not be entangled with them, by being led by the Spirit of Truth with Godly wisdom. Looking unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. (Heb.12:2)
Believing, receiving and living by God’s sanctifying truth, in wisdom assures the born-again believer a victorious life in Christ despite the tribulations (pressure, anguish or burden) of world. Even in death. (John 11:25) Understanding that tribulations help mold us into the image of Christ (Rom.5:3-5). Jesus said to His disciples, ‘These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Jn. 16:33. And again, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1Jn. 5:4).
Beloved are you set apart by God’s Truth or is your’s or someone else’s truth more important? God’s truth is supernatural but gives credence to ALL truth. The Spirit of Truth always leads to the Way and displays the characteristics of Christ. He will discern and enables us to act in the wisdom of God if we listen, and submit to him. There is no deceptive motive in him. He exposes lies, and brings conviction through truth. He testifies of Christ, and bears witness of Him. Have you allowed him to sanctify you? Are you one with the Godhead, and from this union bearing Godly fruit? Beloved, If you have strayed, let the Spirit of Truth through Christ (The Way, The Truth, and The Life) lead you back home to God. Because you and I both know, in all the world, there is no place like home.
